Early Life and Education
Mukesh Ambani was born on April 19, 1957, in Aden, Yemen. His father, Dhirubhai Ambani, was a businessman who started as a small-time trader and went on to build Reliance Industries, a conglomerate with interests in petrochemicals, refining, oil and gas exploration, and telecommunications. Mukesh Ambani has a younger brother, Anil Ambani, who is also a prominent businessman in India.
Mukesh Ambani completed his schooling at the Hill Grange High School in Mumbai and went on to study chemical engineering at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai. He later pursued an MBA from Stanford University in the United States.
Career
Mukesh Ambani started his career with Reliance Industries in 1981 when he was just 24 years old. He worked in various departments of the company and gained experience in every aspect of the business. He played a key role in the company's expansion into new areas such as petrochemicals, refining, and telecommunications.
In 2002, after his father's death, Mukesh Ambani took over as the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries. He initiated a series of bold and ambitious projects that transformed the company into a global player. One of his major initiatives was the establishment of Reliance Jio, a telecommunications company that revolutionized the Indian telecom industry.
Reliance Jio
Reliance Jio was launched in 2016, and within a short span of time, it became the largest telecom operator in India. The company disrupted the telecom industry with its affordable pricing and free data services, which resulted in a significant increase in internet penetration in the country. Reliance Jio also introduced the concept of e-commerce through its JioMart platform, which connects small retailers with consumers through an online platform.
Reliance Jio's success has been instrumental in transforming India into a digital economy. It has also attracted global investments, with companies such as Facebook and Google investing in the company.

Mukesh Ambani's other initiatives include the establishment of Reliance Retail, which is India's largest retail company. The company operates a chain of supermarkets, hypermarkets, and specialty stores across India. Reliance Retail has also ventured into e-commerce through its JioMart platform.
Mukesh Ambani has also been instrumental in transforming the energy sector in India. Reliance Industries operates the world's largest oil refinery complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The company has also ventured into renewable energy, with plans to invest in solar and wind power.
